Madrid Activism: Bilingual list of local grass-roots groups

Here you have an ever-growing list of Madrid grass-roots groups campaigning locally for a better world. Whether you’re new to activism or have been campaigning passionately since you could first hold a banner, we hope this resource will be useful to you.

Find more than 60 active groups fighting for racial equality, social justice, the right to affordable housing and the right to die peacefully, among many other pressing causes. This resource has been created specifically to facilitate your access to local activism, and is bilingual so that it can be shared as widely as possible.

CONTACTING ACTIVIST GROUPS

Tell them about yourself.

• Are you a member of their community?
• Do you have any valuable skills to offer them? Web/App design, social media management, education, construction, press contacts, political contacts, community contacts, event management, event spaces, fund-raising experience, kitchen experience, translation and interpreting, and so on.
• Do you live nearby?
• Do you have a car?
• How many hours can you commit to per week/month?

Start by offering them something, and once you’re involved, you can get a feel for how else you might be able to help. If you don’t speak Spanish, it wouldn’t hurt writing to them in English too.
